Wine Tasting: Que Syrah Syrah
Mmmm Syrah! One of our favorite grapes at Café Marc Aurel. This legendary dark flesh grape is known as a ‘Rhone Varietal’ with the world’s largest plantations of Syrah coming from France. The wines that made Syrah famous were those from Hermitage in Northern Rhone. The history of the Syrah grape dates back to Roman times. Some say the Crusaders returning from Persia imported the grape. Others say the grape originated in the Rhone Valley. In 1832 the Syrah grape was introduced into Australia where the grape is called Shiraz. At this wine tasting we will be trying wines from France, Australia,
Chile, Oregon & California. For $35 this is the best deal on Maui! Also included in the price is cheese and bread and a full glass of wine. Hosted by Hawai‘i’s premiere wine educator and co-owner of JMD beverages, Alan Jahns. Each ticket includes a $10 donation to Maui’s new Pomaikai School. Seats sell out quickly so make reservations early!
