His future career aspirations involve using all the knowledge he has gained both in corporate finance and as a small business entrepreneur, to assist others in realizing their dreams by integrating their passions with the practical aspects of business for a well-rounded real world success. Marc has a hearty passion for life that has become a permanent, palpable aspect of the Café ambiance. His love of good coffee, fine wine, cigars and livin' the good life have made Café Marc Aurel what it is today and define what it will continue to be in the future. Marc will stay on as co-owner and strategic, financial advisor of the Hui. He will be making yearly visits to the island to reconnect with all the wonderful friends that he has made here, sharing stories of his travels and adventures.

Adrianne Martinez. As a Wailuku business owner since 1999 and Marc’s business partner since 2005, Adrianne has thoroughly enjoyed the creative challenge of taking Marc’s idea to open a wine bar in Wailuku and help him manifest that as a successful business. She has also enjoyed brining her own flavor of art, culture and varied live entertainment to enhance the Café’s bohemian ambiance. Adrianne is looking forward to using the skills that she has gained in marketing, business structure and entrepreneurship to assist her in her next business ventures here in Wailuku. She will stay on as co-owner and advisor to the Café Hui. She will continue to host the very popular rotating art shows once a month and continue to be a loyal patron of Café Marc Aurel.

Rose Fernandes. As bar manager, Rose has played an integral part in the Café since 2006. And now, as general manager and president of the Hui, she has confidently stepped into her role as ‘Mama’ of Café Marc Aurel. Rose, a kama‘aina (local), has 23 years of restaurant/bar experience on Maui. This is more than double what Marc and Adrianne have, combined! It is because of this dedication and expertise that Marc and Adrianne feel so good about leaving the Café in her very capable hands.
And now, a word directly from Rose...
I would like to say what an honor it is to be part of such an incredible team! The restaurant business is my passion and where I excel. With that said, working for Café Marc Aurel has been the most refreshing job I have ever had in this industry. Here at the Café, I feel I am treated with dignity and respect. Every minute of my experience here has been rewarding. I spent my childhood playing in the Wailuku streams and public library. Ohana is what keeps me content. If I can pass that on to every customer that walks in our door, then I feel I have succeeded. Please feel free to come up and introduce yourself, and let me know how your experience was at our Café. It is our mission to have the customer leave in a better mood than when they arrived. Every day of my new role is so exciting for me and I can’t express how thrilled I am to be a part of this new Hui ownership here at Café Marc Aurel.
Peace & Aloha,
Rose

Jackie and Woozer Goring. This adorable kama‘aina couple both work for the Café. Woozer, also a respected English teacher at Maui High, has been a wine bar server and bartender since 2006 and his beautiful, raven-haired wife, Jackie, was one of our morning baristas before she accepted the dual role of purchasing manager and morning manager for the Hui. These two joined the collective because they felt that it was important to commit to the continuation of authentic bohemian culture that Café Marc Aurel has become famous for. They love the Café as a place where they can enjoy great jazz, talk with thoughtful folks about books, poetry, film and otherwise hang-out and work in an environment that is culturally stimulating and real. A refreshing respite from the kind of sterile, corporate environments that have become all too common on Maui in recent years. They live in Pakuz with their dizzyingly cute baby, Kanoa.

Krissy Kopp. The exotic and lovely Krissy Kopp aka ‘Pocahontas’ was beloved as one of the favorite wine bar servers that the Café has ever had. She recently ran off to sell jewelry during the summer festival/concert circuit on the mainland. Now that she has joined the Hui she will be returning to Maui to take over the marketing/entertainment manager position. Krissy is an artist at heart, known for her skilled dance abilities and for her bold jewelry designs. She will be adding her flair to the monthly e-mail blasts and be booking lots of varied entertainment for all the Café patrons to enjoy. She will be gracing us once again with her fun, free personality and uninhibited style. We are delighted to have her and her positive energy back in the Café.

Megan Childers.
Megan is a multi-talented soul who has taken on the role of accounting manager for the Café Hui. This lovely and personable young woman also works three nights a week in the Wine Bar and keeps the Café tidy by cleaning for us once a week. Megan has a passion for working hard and playing hard, she also holds a degree in Business Management, and has previous experience in the coffee industry by owning, operating and eventually selling a small espresso stand in Washington state. She loves people and making their day better. Her personal vision fits the company mission and she feels blessed to be a part of the Hui. Michael and Heather Buono. Michael and Heather Buono have been ohana of the Café since the wine bar opened in 2004. Many of you will recognize Michael as the super nimble drummer who plays with Hand Jive Jazz Trio, a local ensemble that has been playing at the Café regularly for many years. He is also a DJ Monday nights on Manao Radio and is the host of Jazz Café, a jazz night broadcast live from Café Marc Aurel the last Monday of every month. Jazz Café features famous professional guest players from Maui and all over the world representing a lifetime’s worth of contacts that Michael has gathered as a professional in the American music industry.
Heather is a visual merchandiser for Tommy Bahama. Both of them are active in non-profit organizations, including Arts Education For Children Group Maui, First Night Maui, Maui Jazz Society, Kihei Youth Center and Habitat For Humanity.
